We were overwhelmed with this email we recently received from one of our home buyers. When this couple came to us, they were seeking to shorten their work commute while retaining the country-living feel they had in their existing Dripping Springs property. Having had a previous ‘money pit’ home experience – a poorly constructed home that ultimately had to be demolished and cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars – made them cautious. They were looking for a builder who demonstrated quality and integrity. We are honored that they chose a JKD Builder home. Read their story.

“There is that moment, a feeling that overcomes you as you experience it. It’s a moment that says “ I can relax now, I am home.” That is the feeling we get when we walk into our JKD home. From the minute we close the garage doors and enter the hall to the spacious living area, the world behind is shut out and the quiet interior beckons. A quick drop of the briefcase in the spacious home office and we walk down the hall into the kitchen with its classic lines but modern flair resplendent with modern lighting and stainless backsplacsh. Off the kitchen is a terraced stairwell to a vista of trees that expand from the patio outside a wall of windows. This sets the stage for the feeling that you have arrived. You are home.

The living room is open enough for large parties but light enough to allow ambient sun to filter in throughout the day. The dining sits apart to allow for the intimate atmosphere of the dinner party. Flowing from one room to other makes entertaining a breeze. Modern touches like cool colors and hard surface floors in grays, linen and charcoal make for a palette that is at once both appealing and yet easy to care for. The layout provides many different vistas that do not look upon each other or any other homes but connect us with nature in a constantly changing view.

And then there is the spacious master. A drop down a step or two and you enter an ample room for formidable furnishings with a set of doors leading to the outdoor living. Off the master is a clean crisp bath which transports you away, you exhale and the pressures of the day melt away in a super deep soaking tub. And beyond that, the envy of all our friends: a closet that is fit for a king and queen, complete with media closet.

Off the master and kitchen lies an outdoor living space with a patio overlooking the wooded backyard and greenbelt. In a slightly askew position, the outdoor kitchen calls to the grill master of the house. Featuring a sink, built-in rotisserie grill and outdoor beverage center, the smoker can be going while the company gathers. The glass of wine or tray of hor d’oerves sits ready to share with friends in this completely covered patio that makes living outside as easy and appealing as inside.

When the sun has set , it’s cinema time. Surrounded by crystal clear sound, the movie room, set off and up from the downstairs living, allows your guests or sports fans to enjoy the immersive experience while maintaining a peaceful feeling on the floors below. And two guest rooms on that upper level are graciously sized for comfort and privacy. Full of light and treed vistas, from the second floor, one might get the impression that the house is set up in the trees.

When morning comes and your energy has returned, you can pull the boat out of the boat garage, grab the golf cart and head to the homeowners launch to start your day on the lake. No detail has been left unattended to. From ample storage tucked into every free corner, to a unbelievable walk-in pantry to a master closet that rivals a bedroom in size, the scale and livability of a JKD home is unparalleled. It’s a feeling that you can only know when you have experienced it. It says “I can relax now, I am home.”
