Television viewers nationwide will be introduced to the beauty of Lake Travis and its surrounding communities when HGTV airs its hugely popular House Hunters Show April 24. The show, to air April 24 at 9 p.m. CST, features the work of longtime Lake Travis custom homebuilder Keith Durio of JKD Builder, LLC, as Lake area realtors Kenn and Michelle Renner seek a larger home for their family near the lake. House Hunters is HGTV’s #1 rated show.

Filming for the segment took place last spring, when HGTV production crews spent more than a week filming in Lakeway and the Lake Travis area. The crew returned to the area over the summer to capture follow-up footage. On the April 24 segment, the Renners tour the JKD Builder home in The Woods of Lake Travis, along with homes in Lakewind and Volente, as they narrow their new home search and make a selection. The show airs again April 25 at 1 a.m. “It was fascinating to be a part of the behind-the-scenes process, and watch the camera crew and producer in action,” said Durio. “The crew rented a lake home for their stay, and were completely taken in with the beauty of the Lake Travis area. We took them down to the Woods of Lake Travis homeowners park where they took lots of B-roll, as well as going out on the lake by boat.” “We were thrilled when we learned that HGTV had selected this concept for a House Hunters show,” said Renner, who proposed the idea to the House Hunters producers. “It was great fun to be a part of the process, and by far the most interesting home buying experience Michelle and I have ever had! We’re excited for this show to let the rest of the world know what a unique gem Lake Travis and its surrounding neighborhoods are.”

JKD Builder has been building custom homes in Lake Travis communities for 25 years. This month, JKD’s work on a Lake Austin waterfront villa garnered the company a prestigious 2008 MAX Award from the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin. Renner has closed more than $200 million in real estate transactions in the past 25 years, and was named #2 realtor in 2007 by the Austin Business Journal.
